Steven Spielberg's sci-fi movie Ready Player One leads a group of foreign films in Chinese cinemas.

The Spielberg film topped the weekly box office in its debut week earning 389 million yuan ($62 million) as of April 1, according to China Film News. It was tailed by another American sci-fi film Pacific Rim Uprising and Alicia Vikander's Tomb Raider.

Other foreign titles on the show include Marvel Studios' superhero film Black Panther, comedy Pup Star and The Shape of Water.

Domestic documentary Amazing China and action film Operation Red Sea remained popular, according to the report.
