It is hoped that the non-Communist parties and those with no party affiliation will become good advisers, assistants and colleagues of the CPC, Xi said, calling for joint efforts to build the country.

He urged making full use of the platform of political party consultation, resolving issues through more effective discussion and fostering more consensus, wisdom and strength through consultation.

Improving the political party consultation system is absolutely not a superficial performance; it exists to offer real suggestions, Xi said.

Xi called for joint efforts to secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society, to win the three tough battles — preventing and addressing major risks, reducing poverty and preventing and addressing pollution.

The non-Communist parties should enhance their organizational ability, and those without party affiliation should lead in putting socialist core values into practice and spreading positive energy, he said, adding that the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese should be built into a bridge to unite Chinese people overseas, as well as to contribute to reform and opening-up and socialist modernization, Xi said.
