SAN FRANCISCO - No one was injured in a shooting at a high school in Tacoma, a city in Washington state, local media reported on Monday.

The local Tacoma News Tribune said a gunshot was fired into the floor of a men's restroom earlier in the day at the Oakland High School. The bullet went into the room below.

"No one was injured," the media quoted police sources as saying.

Three boys were in the men's restroom when a gun was fired. Video showed that they immediately exited the room and school, said police spokeswoman Loretta Cool.

The Tribune said two students were detained after the shooting.

Oakland is an alternative high school with 250 to 300 students aged 14 to 21 in the Tacoma School District, according to the district's website.

US schools have been on alert since a series of shooting on campus killed dozens of students in the past months in the country.

The latest gun-related violence occurred on February 14, when 17 students were killed and 14 more injured in a massing shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

It was one of the world's deadliest school massacres perpetrated by a 19-year old man who was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
