After the proper training of the two instructors, the students mastered the basic techniques of the dances and acquired a better understanding of traditional customs.

The Wellington East Girls' School has run the Chinese course since 1995 and now, about 110 students of different ethnic communities are taking the course in the school. This year is the first for the school to cooperate with the China Cultural Center to organize the parade of dragon and lion dances for Happy Chinese New Year festivities in the city.
