Subway construction site collapse kills 8 in South China

The collapse of a road that killed eight people in south China's Guangdong Province was caused by flooding.
The collapse happened around 8:40 pm on Wednesday at a subway construction site in Foshan city. Eight people were killed on the spot, three are missing and nine have been taken to hospital, according to the city government.
According to preliminary investigation, a sudden flood occurred at the construction site at 7 pm. The collapse came after a tunnel segment was damaged by water.
The collapse stretched more than 30 meters.

At around 8:40 pm, a road section of the No 2 subway line construction site collapsed, Foshan transport authorities said Thursday. Nine people have been rescued and hospitalized.
As big as two basketball fields
Eight people died in a road collapse in Foshan, South China's Guangdong province, on Wednesday night.
The collapse happened at Jihua West Road in the Chancheng district, a major road in downtown Foshan.
As of 8:40 am Thursday, eight people were confirmed dead.
The area of the collapsed road is as big as two basketball fields, with a depth of six to seven meters.
