New era update urged for Constitution

Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi as the core, the whole Party and country have put the implementation of the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress as the top political task, launched many publicity activities, and initiated a campaign to learn the spirit of the congress and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, which has led the whole Party and nation to have more unified thoughts and stronger actions, according to the communique.

It pointed out that as the country's supreme law, the Constitution has played an important role in the practice of the Party's governance and the process of reform and opening-up.

Facts prove that China's current Constitution is a good one that accords with China's national situation, fully reflects the common will of the people, fully protects the democratic rights of the people and fully protects the people's fundamental interests, said the communique.

Safeguarding the authority of the Constitution is the premise to safeguard the country's unity, esteem and authority, and it is also the guarantee to protect the people's interests and ensure the country's long-term peace, according to the communique.

With unprecedentedly strong efforts made by the CPC Central Committee with Xi as the core since the Party's 18th National Congress, the Party has made historical achievements in building socialist rule of law, it said.
