Mobile app offers deeper knowledge of Tibetan medicine

A mobile app providing knowledge of Tibetan medicine has been expanded recently to include the diagnoses and treatment of 128 common diseases on the plateau.
By downloading the app, a user can get information about symptoms, therapy, prevention and medication contraindications by searching the keyword or looking for it in the alphabetical classification on the app.
The app also introduces efficacies of more than 300 kinds of Tibetan medicines.
The app is only in Tibetan language now, said Buchong Tsering, director of the Tibetan Hospital’s clinical research center’s scientific and educational department, who is in charge of the development of the app.
Translating from Tibetan into Mandarin is a huge project, and there are no translation criteria for terms of Tibetan medicine, so it might cause ambiguity in translation, Tsering added.
