ROK’s Kim and DPRK’s leader Kim held their first-ever summit in Pyongyang from June 13 to 15, 2000. The talks covered issues including national reconciliation, financial aid to the DPRK and the reunification of families separated since the peninsula was divided 55 years ago.

The June 15 Joint Declaration was signed in Pyongyang during the first summit between the two sides since the 1950-53 Korean War.
