There is a special volunteer team working in Shenyang’s Wu Lihe Street. All of them are retired medics from the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region with the average age of 78. They have been to construction sites, residents' homes, and community activity rooms where they hold free health checkups. Although they do not have any sophisticated equipment, they rely on decades of medical experience to help others. They check the pulse, take blood pressure and do heart auscultation. When they find someone has high blood pressure, a health warning, they ask them to visit hospital or write out a simple prescription. In more than 10 years, they have helped tens of thousands of people.
