Every year, from August to October, it is harvest season for bee hunters in the Moon Mountains.

The pupa of the wild bee is a rare and popular local delicacy in the area on the borders of three counties in Guizhou -Rongjiang, Congjiang and Sandu.

Shi Benhui, 40, is one of the wild bee hunters in Baitou village, Rongjiang county. He says obtaining hives is a risky and dangerous business in the primitive forest.

But it is also rewarding, both for the enjoyment of hunting and in selling the bees at market.
