Xi opposes attempts to deny history
President Xi Jinping has succeeded in winning broad support for his country's efforts to fight attempts to deny World War II history during his trip to Eurasia.
His actions are expected to give more prominence to China's celebrations marking victory in World War II and the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-45), scheduled for Sept 3.
Xi's move to build a united front appeared to be increasing pressure on Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who has been criticized for not facing up to the systematic war crimes his country committed.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on May 11, "Sept 3, just like May 9, Belarus' victory day against Nazi Germany, is our common festive day."
Targets for cutting red tape set by premier
Premier Li Keqiang has set goals for the streamlining of administration this year and instructed the government to use big data and cloud computing to innovate in the field of supervision.
"The greatest truths are the simplest. Those in power must not stubbornly pursue their own aims," Li said on May 12.
He was speaking during a teleconference held by the State Council to push forward administrative reforms.
Li said a goal of issuing only one business license to new companies, instead of the current three, should be met by the end of the year. Each business license should bear only one reference number, instead of the current three.
