The 800 steel sunflowers by Xu Jiang stand reach for the sky at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz.Provided to China Daily

This joint exhibition of the two Chinese artists Xu Jiang and Shi Hui will present the central focus of their works-the struggle with nature at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, the headland where the Moselle joins the Rhine.

The central theme of the exhibition is sunflowers, the plants that have become in the eyes of the artists a symbol for an entire generation: the generation growing up after the great wars of the 20th century and after the "cultural revolution (1966-76)". It is not only about Chinese history, but also about the lives of individuals that were subjected to profound changes.

Audiences can see a huge field of 800 steel sunflowers. The work is titled "It is possible for them to live together".

Though their respective works, the two artists create a dialogue beyond their own creative power.

Much more delicate elements appear in the works of Shi Hui, whose sculptures are made of soft flowing forms.

In the installation work, she integrates plant elements and creates many forms of flora. The materials handmade paper and fiberglass, which gives her work a smooth appearance.

In the exhibition, audiences can see other works by the two artists.
