Liang, who topped Forbes magazine's annual list of China's richest people in 2011, made these comments after a US scribe told him that "You are sure to migrate to the US someday".

"I have never, in all my life, mistreated other people, and I don't want to owe anything to others when I leave this world."

Ma Yujian, a barber from Nanjing, Jiangsu province, saying that he would return prepaid cards to customers, after lung cancer forced him to close his salon. Moved by Ma's gesture, many customers have refused to accept the cards.

"This is not only good for Chinese citizens, whose increased income will boost consumption, but also encouraging for European countries such as France."

Jean-Pierre Raffarin, vice-president of the French Senate, commenting on Chinese leader Hu Jintao pledging that China would double the 2010 average income by 2020. Raffarin says that is welcome news for debt-ridden Western countries.
