People of Beijing was initiated in 1996, picked up again in 2004 and finally concluded in 2006.
Over the 10-year span of this photography project, China underwent tremendous changes. The country started enjoying the success of economic development and the capital was gearing up for the 2008 Olympic Games.
The ancient history and culture of Beijing, and rapid modern makeover are tangling together, making the city a remarkable fusion of the traditional and modern; static and dynamic.
Photographer Ramon Bujanda, who is currently exhibiting his work in Bath, shares his thoughts and the stories behind the photos.
During the span of this project, the artist changed his medium from film to digital photography but remained faithful to his personal style and objective, seeking to reflect simple moments in the lives of individuals.
This series is not only filled with humanity, but it is also a dynamic and in-depth documentary of the changes that have transformed China over the past decade.
