Zooming in on zodiac

The Chinese zodiac is perhaps one of the most iconic symbols of Chinese culture to have captured the Western imagination. It comprises 12 animals: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
The Lunar New Year, which began on Jan 23 this year, heralded the Year of the Dragon. An artist in Britain, Aili Purdy, has worked in partnership with the Museum of East Asian Art on the project Chinese Zodiac in Bath, a painting exhibition incorporating the traditional Chinese zodiac with local scenes of Bath, as well as objects in the Museum of East Asian Art.
The exhibition is a celebration of East meets West using traditional themes and artistic techniques and combining those with contemporary styles and subject matters.
Date: Till June 24
Venue: Museum of East Asian Art, Bath
