China Daily was founded in 1981 and is the first and only, national
English-language newspaper in China. Adhering to the principle of letting the
world know China better, it is widely recognized as China's most authoritative
English publication and is most frequently quoted by major foreign media.
Through its 25 years of growth, China Daily has matured into a newsgroup with
11 publications. With China Daily as its flagship, the group also owns the 9

China Daily is now circulated in more than 150 countries and regions, and has
a daily circulation of more than 200,000 copies. It is printed in Beijing,

China Daily is the only representative from China in the Asian News Network
(ANN), a non-government media organization consisting of 14 major
English-language newspapers, whose total circulation is more than 20 million.

China Daily Hong Kong Edition - since its launch in October 1997, China Daily

offers in-depth reporting of the economic sector, focusing on issues underlying

21st Century Weekly - an English education weekly designed to promote the use

learning and speaking English. It appeals particularly to young intellectuals,

21st Century Teens Senior Edition - founded in October 2001 as an English
language weekly newspaper designed for China's senior high school students.
21st Century Teens Junior Edition - established in September 2003, it is the
English-language weekly newspaper designed especially for China's junior high
school students.
21st Century Kids Edition - also established in September 2003, it is a
bilingual weekly newspaper designed especially for primary school students.
Beijing Weekend - launched in 1991, it is a weekly guide covering culture,
life, leisure, healthcare, sports, entertainment and other subjects of interest
to foreign and local readers.
Shanghai Star - launched in November 1992 as an affiliated newspaper of China
Daily, Shanghai Star provides in-depth reports on society, economy, culture,
life and entertainment in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Region.
China Daily Website - China's first newspaper website at the time of its
launch in Dec 1995, chinadaily.com.cn is one of China's top six national
websites, getting an average of 5 million hits a day.
