Macao Polytechnic Institute is one of two institutions of tertiary education 
funded by the Macao Government. Conveniently located in the centre of Macao, the 
campus is easily accessible. Currently MPI has 2,800 degree students. 
Each year over 20,000 students take short courses offered by the schools and 
centres of the Institute. Macao Polytechnic Institute offers masters degrees 
jointly with Queen Mary, University of London (UK), Monash University 
(Australia), Beijing Language and Culture University (China), and Beijing Sports 
University.
Founded in September 1991, Macao Polytechnic Institute is comprises: schools 
of Languages and Translation, Business, Public Administration, Arts, Health 
Sciences, Physical Education and Sports, and a Senior Academy. The MPI-Bell 
Centre of English is the only testing centre in Macao for IELTS "International 
English Language Testing System" and BULATS "Business Language Testing Service", 
Macao Tourism and Casino Career Centre is a joint venture between Macao 
Polytechnic Institute and the Institute for Tourism Studies, MPI also operates 
centres of Continuing Education and Special Projects, Career Development, 
Sino-Western Culture Studies, Social Economic Research, Human Resources Research 
and Planning, and Information Systems Research Centre. 
The Macao Government attaches great importance to the development of higher 
education. The policy enhances teaching and research quality and encourages 
students to take part in social and academic activities. Macao Polytechnic 
Institute endeavors constantly to improve the quality of existing courses and 
develop new courses to meet local and international demand for professional 
manpower in traditional and new knowledge-based industries.
