WASHINGTON - A suspicious package was found Tuesday in a federal building in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The building was evacuated by authorities, as reports say the package is possibly an explosive device. The Internal Revenue Services is housed in the building.
The police closed off parts of Ivan Allen Drive in downtown Atlanta, and Atlanta police spokesman Otis Redmond said officers received a report of a grenade at the Peachtree Summit Federal Building. Local media said the IRS and other federal agencies have offices in the building.
The police wouldn't confirm if the suspicious package is indeed a grenade, saying they have to further verify the details.
