HOUSTON - At least three people were killed and 10 others went missing in a powerful natural gas line explosion that occurred in Johnson County, the US state of Texas on Monday, local media reported.

The explosion, which took place about 2:40 pm near Cleburne, in north central Texas, also left 6 people wounded, Cleburne city manager Chester Nolen told local TV station WFAA.

Witnesses said they heard thunder-like sounds and that at 3:15 pm they could still "hear the rumbling."

Television images showed massive flames and a huge plume of smoke and a burned out vehicle.
