Yunnan provincial govt twittering to the public

The Yunnan provincial government became the first government in China to use Twitter, the online social networking service, People's Daily's website people.com.cn reported.

Netizens can get access to the provincial government's Twitter address by logging on to sina.com.cn.

"We opened our Twitter feed to greet public opinions on social issues. It showcases the government's confidence to make its administration more open," said Wu Hao, deputy director of the provincial publicity department.

Yao Bo, a columnist and commentator with chinadaily.com.cn，said: "It's good to see the government is giving out more information. But the important thing is the government takes the public's good advice and doesn't turn it into a political show."
