BOCOG will continue its effort to bring along a fine environment for the
Games, BOCOG Executive Vice-President Yang Shu'an said Thursday while meeting
with IOC environmental advisor Simon Balderstone.

Simon Balderstone was here as an IOC representative to attend this year's
environmental technical meeting with the Construction & Environment
Department of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad
(BOCOG) from August 15-17.
During the meeting the Construction & Environment Department updated him
on the environmental management of the Beijing Olympic Games, BOCOG's
cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), its promotion of
"Green Olympics," the Olympic projects highlighting the environmental protection
as well as BOCOG's cleaning work and management of discarded goods during the
Olympic Games.
In addition, Beijing municipal commissions on development and reform,
municipal management, transportation and water as well as the Beijing Municipal
Environmental Protection Bureau briefed Balderstone on the progress of their
work respectively. Balderstone also paid site-tour of Olympic projects.
Mr. Balderstone praised the work done by the respective departments, offered
his constructive views and observations, and expressed hopes that BOCOG's
environmental protection efforts will leave an abundant legacy for
Beijing.
