Beijing will collect and display a series of latest scientific innovation results to prove that science and technology are a powerful force to drive the preparatory work to the success of the forthcoming Olympic Games.

Secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Qi stressed this in his meeting with Minster of Science and Technology Wan Gang on Tuesday.

According to Wan, Beijing, the host city of the 2008 Olympics, has raised the level of science and technology applications in urban construction, energy-saving, environmental protection and information services, with a considerable number of new research results applied in the process of Olympic preparations.

Echoing Wan, Liu said that taking the advantage of the Olympics, Beijing has been making efforts to develop productive tertiary industries involving construction, material and auto sectors as well as information technology, making Beijing a innovative city.

Liu hoped that the Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to support Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, by cultivating more high-end and environment-friendly enterprises, promoting their independent research and development, and speeding up the transformation of intellectual property rights into productive forces.
