The Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG) said here on Wednesday that the hard copy of the service guide has been available for foreign, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan media.

The Guide, which can be downloaded on en.beijing2008.cn /media/latest/n214074441.shtml, provides a concise interpretation and explanation to media who is not familiar with Chinese laws and policies related to their coverage of the Games.

The Guide also covers more than a dozen items of common concerning the accredited and non-accredited media including visa application, customs clearance, interviews throughout China, hiring Chinese (mainland) citizens, accommodation rental, radio frequency coordination, temporary driving permits, tax, insurance and so on.

"A Japanese broadcaster told me that the Guide is so helpful that he even called it a 'media bible for the Games',"said Sun Weijia, director of BOCOG media operations department.

"The guide is especially useful for broadcasters as they will have so many equipments and need to hire a lot of people here," he said.

Media will also enjoy One-Stop service as the Beijing Olympic Media Center launched the 24-hour service on Sunday. BOCOG, relevant departments of the Central Government and the Beijing Municipal Government coordinate in handling the requirements of the media in their news coverage and to assist them in going through administrative approval procedures as well as other problems such as temporary driving permits, accommodation etc.

Journalists can virtually have all their problems covering the Games and the preparatory period solved in the service room on the fifth floor of the Media Center at Chaonei Street.
