Chinese gymnast falls into coma at national championships(Xinhua)Updated: 2007-06-10 22:27 SHANGHAI, June 10 -- Chinese gymnast Wang Yang from Zhejiang province fell into coma following a downfall from uneven bars at the national championships on Sunday. Wang Yan fell down to her head from the high bar in the women's qualifier and plunged into coma on the cushion. The team doctor came up to diagnose but couldn't get any reaction from Wang. She failed to make any move with eyes closed and needed an oxygen assistance at the spot. About five minutes later, she was stretchered to an ambulance for the nearby hospital. It's not available what's her exact conditions at the moment. Chinese gymnast Sang Lan paralyzed herself as she lost her balance in vault warm-up in the New York Goodwill Games in 1998. Sang was disturbed by a foreign coach and tumbled over her head at the accident.
