The deadline to submit candidate songs is March 10, 2008, and a cash reward of 20,000 yuan (about US$2,565) will be given to each of the 25 winners selected by a panel of professional musicians, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) said in a press release.

The worldwide solicitation, which has entered the fourth edition of its kind, also targets a theme song for the 2008 Paralympic Games as well as theme songs for torch relay and ceremonies events.

The theme song for the 2008 Olympics, to be picked from all the entries of the four editions, will be unveiled 100 days before the opening ceremony of the Games, said BOCOG.

The Beijing Olympics take place from Aug. 8 to 24, 2008.
