Up to 50 writers in Beijing demonstrated their determination to create new works for the 2008 Olympic Games.

They found clues from a briefing by Jiang Xiaoyu, executive vice-president of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) which covered venue construction, marketing, sports organization, Paralympic Games, media and communications, volunteers as well as security. Jiang also gave a picture on how the preparatory work is going on in the next months.

Writers of different literature types such as reportage, essay, fiction and poem opened extensive discussions on how to devote themselves to new topics and characters.

They began to conduct interviews at the BOCOG Headquarters, Olympic venues, Olympic education model schools and many other places related to the Olympic Games with an aim to create popular pieces.
