The president of the International Olympic Committee is in Pakistan on a goodwill visit meeting top political leaders, an official from the Pakistani Olympic body said Friday.

Jacques Rogge arrived in the capital, Islamabad, on Thursday for talks with Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, said Khaliq Khan, secretary of the Pakistan Olympic Association.

Rogge is expected in the eastern city of Lahore on Saturday for talks with Pakistani and Chinese officials as well as members of the Pakistan Olympic Association, which is headquartered there, Khan said.

The visiting president of China, Hu Jintao, will be in Lahore at the same time. Talks between him and Rogge on China's hosting of the 2008 Olympics are expected to be raised.

Khan said Rogge was making a "goodwill" visit to Pakistan after being invited to this South Asian nation by Pakistani officials during an OIC meeting in Malaysia earlier this year.

The OIC provides funding to help run the Pakistan Olympic Association.
