The constructors of the Beijing Olympic projects are requested to always bear in mind the goals they should meet to ensure a successful Olympiad.

At a meeting on Wednesday, Vice Mayor Chen Gang again urged them to fulfill "five integrative requirements" -- safety, quality, construction time limit, function and cost.

The attendees listened to a report by the Beijing 2008 Project Construction Headquarters Office on the work done in the first three quarters of 2006 and the task for the rest of the year.

Currently, construction of 26 of the 31 Beijing-based Olympic venues and the five related facilities, including the Olympic Village, is under way, and construction of structures of most of the projects have entered the wind-up phase, with equipment installation and interior fit-up in the near future.

Chen called on the constructors to enhance the awareness of responsibility and urgency as the 2008 Olympic Games is approaching.

"An all-round review and check should be done to remove every possible hidden peril," he said, pinpointing project management, technical innovation, cooperation with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) to achieve effective link-up and integrated progress of venue construction and operation.
